Where do students sit their official EASA exams?
Exams are conducted at Austro Control test centres in Austria (including Villach -our testing center- Vienna and other locations and through Austro Control’s worldwide network of external theoretical examination centers). Alternatively, students may choose any authorized EASA competent authority and its official examination locations.
How much do exam fees cost at Villach testing center?
ATPL/CPL/MPL exams cost € 116.90 per subject including taxes (€ 118.36 via credit card). IR/CB-IR exams are € 109.90; ICAO conversions € 127.90; PPL € 394.90 for nine subjects. A standard 1.25% card processing fee applies.
Can I distribute my ATPL/CPL/IR exam subjects flexibly?
Yes. At Villach, you freely select the order and spread of your subjects across the four-day monthly session as a single sitting, even taking just one subject per day.
Can I book an exam slot without my official recommendation form?
Yes. You can reserve early by submitting your ID, contact details, ATO name, and payment. Your complete recommendation form must simply reach us at least 16 days before the exam week.
Can I take my exams in Italy?
Yes, by selecting ENAC and meeting their admission requirements (test centers in Rome and Milan Malpensa). However, ENAC offers significantly less scheduling flexibility compared to Austro Control’s European network in Villach and Vienna.
When do I receive my exam results?
With Austro Control, your score appears immediately on screen upon exam completion, and an official provisional result certificate is delivered straight to your email inbox right away.
How long do EASA theoretical exam results remain valid?
Under EASA FCL.025(c), PPL/LAPL passes are valid for 24 months and CPL/IR for 36 months from completion. ATPL theory remains valid for seven years after your last IR or type rating expiry date.
What navigation and calculation tools can I use during the exam?
Austro Control permits compliant non-programmable calculators, flight computers, protractors, dividers, rulers, and printed dictionaries. Notes, mobile phones, and smartwatches are strictly prohibited. Official charts (CAP/Jeppesen) are provided or permitted per regulations.
Can I switch aviation authorities after starting my exams?
You can freely change test centres within the Austro Control network while keeping your exam record intact. Changing to a different national aviation authority mid-series requires restarting your exam series.
What is the timeframe to complete all EASA ATPL exams?
Under EASA rules, you must pass all subjects within 18 months from the end of the month of your first attempt, utilizing a maximum of six sittings and four attempts per subject.
